Abilities
Character's Canon Abilities: Layla is a vampire. She has many of the standard abilities of her kind. There are a couple of differences between vampires in her universe and those in others, however. Vampires in the Eerie Cuties canon are able to eat "normal" food in addition to blood - they can enjoy spaghetti, ice cream, toast, etc. just to name a few (with the excpetion of Layla's little sister Nina, they do all require blood to live, though). The vampires in Eerie Cuties canon are born rather than turned. They age normally throughout childhood, and then experience a drastic slowing down of age starting late teens onward, until aging stops entirely around the late twenties to early thirties. They are vulnerable to sunlight and can be staked through the heart. Holy symbols don't seem to be dangerous to vampires, as Layla is a fan of a band called the Valiant Crosses. They can also be seen in mirrors and photographs. Layla is severely garlic intolerant. It won't kill her, but it will make her very sick.
Superhuman speed - the upper limits of Layla's superhuman speed are not known, but she is shown doing a 40m dash in under a second with no effort.
Superhuman strength - Layla's exact limits are not clarified. This doesn't seem to be one of her better developed vampiric abilities, though. She is shown being able to lift humans and human-sized beings without much effort, but she is shown moving a fridge with some effort, as well as struggling with a ship anchor roughly two thirds her size. It's unlikely that she can lift more than a ton.
Mental abilities - Layla is capable of very precise hypnosis, such as giving specific instructions, and the exact point that it will wear off. She can wipe a person's recent memories (usually done to erase their memory of her biting them), and even put a person in full enthrallment (in which they'll take orders from anyone). A permissions post will be put up for this ability.
Extendable nails/claws - Layla can make temporarily make her nails longer and sharper.
Emotive hairpin - Layla's skull hairpin is magical, and its expressions reflect her own emotions
Enhanced senses - Layla is able to see in the dark easily, and distinguish between subtle flavours in people's blood
Conditional: If your character has no superhuman canon abilities, what dormant ability will you give them? N/A
Weapons: N/A

History/Personality/Plans/etc.
Character History:

Short version: High school drama/comedy with monsters that features Layla, her younger sister Nina, Nina's friends Chloe (a succubus) and Brooke (a melusine), Ace Wolfhart (a werewolf), Kade Whiteclaw (a werecat), Blair (a doll with a perverted male soul in it), Tiffany Winters (vampire slayer), Diodore Renoir (Layla's arranged fiancee) and a number of other supernaturally inclined characters. Layla is a loving big sister, has an on and off again romantic relationship with Kade (who cheats on her often but gets jealous at the possibility of her being involved with another guy), and has a mixture of friendliness and snark toward Nina's friends.

Long version:
Very little of Layla's past is known. She lives with her parents Eugene and Maria, and her younger sister Nina, however, in one strip her mother mentions raising 13 children. Since none of the other eleven are shown, it seems likely that they are much older and possibly even half-siblings from a previous marriage (since a family photo in Eugene's study only shows him, Maria, Layla and Nina). The Delacroix family seems to be reasonably well off, given the size of their home and that they employ a housekeeper. While progressive in some ways, Eugene and Maria Delacroix arranged a marriage to a young vampire approximately Layla's age named Diodore Renoir, back when the two were children. Their attitude toward humans seems to be relatively benign. While they make no apologies about their feeding habits, they seem to treat humans as people most of the time. In a flashback, Layla is shown being close enough friends with human girl named Stephanie that she gives her a magical hairpin when they have to part ways. Layla is also very careful about not taking enough blood to pose a serious danger to a person's health, and seems to be capable of making biting a pleasant sensation (as a child, she bites her friend's arm and her friend says it tickles). Evidence points to Layla being raised without any real prejudice toward humans.
At the beginning of Eerie Cuties, Layla brings her 14 year old (and rather small for her age) sister Nina to her first day of school at Charybdis Heights (a school for monsters). She introduces Nina to Kade as her friend. Kade interjects that he is her boyfriend, and she amends that to "sometimes". After Nina's first French class, Layla stops by to take Nina to her next class and see how things went with Mr. Arman Purvis, the French teacher with a possessed arm. When Mr. Purvis spots her and is under the influence of his possessed arm, Layla grabs Nina and Nina's new friend Chloe Love and runs for it. The two have lunch with Chloe and are startled by how rapid succubus growth is. At the end of the day, they say goodbye to Chloe and Nina hugs Jeffrey the groundskeeper. The following day, because the girls have arrived at school early, Layla suggests that Nina go watch the boys' track team for a little while to pass the time. She's rather horrified later when Nina informs her that she met a boy and rubbed her face on the boy's bare chest. Later that day, Kade decides to surprise Layla with a picnic lunch - milk for him, and an unconscious human with the neck exposed for Layla. As Kade's trying to persuade Layla to give him a kiss, he remarks "Well, at least your sister's getting some action" and Layla spots Nina giving werewolf Ace Wolfhart a tummy rub until he transforms into his werewolf form. Layla threatens Ace and tells him to keep his paws off her little sister. Ace retorts that he's not scared of her and that vampires are all talk...right up until Layla starts dialing the city pound to report a stray dog with no license on school grounds. Later that day, Layla attempts to get out of putting in effort in gym class by running the 40m dash before the coach even finishes saying "Go!". As a punishment, a ship anchor about two thirds her size is attached to her leg and she has to do the 40m dash again like that. At the end of the school day, Layla opts to make use of the magical protection the school grounds has against sunlight to get a tan, as "pallor is for emo vampires".

A few weeks later, Layla spots Chloe trying to cram hundreds of bat-hearts (succubi pheremone delivery system) into her locker, and phones Nina to tell her to stay away from the succubus girl. Unfortunately for Layla, Chloe is allergic to the hairspray Layla is using, and Layla winds up at ground zero of an explosion of succubi pheremones. It dyes Layla pink, and though she's initially prepared to abandon Chloe to the infatuated horde of teenage boys that's begun to collect, she quickly discovers that she's covered with so much of the pheremones that they're after her, too. She claws at the boys' hands that are grabbing at Chloe, and starts forming an escape plan. Together with Nina and Brooke (Nina's melusine friend), they run to the teacher's lounge to hide. They block the door with a filing cabinet and a fridge. Layla and Brooke are rude to each other throughout the event, and Layla even flips her hair in Brooke's face to make some of the pheremones rub off on her. The two girls start fighting and the boys start breaking into the teachers' lounge. Layla orders Nina to get behind her, and prepares to try to fend off the boys with Brooke. Their attempts are unsuccessful, and in the ensuing chaos, Nina manages to sneak out into the hallway to pull off the fire alarm and set off the school's sprinkler system, which washes the pheremones away. When Layla encounters Kade outside, he sees her disheveled state and asks if she's been cheating on him. She's incredulous that he had no idea what was going on and asks him what he'd been doing outside all that time. Kade claims he was just playing in catnip, but he'd actually been carving his name and Layla's in a heart on a tree.

Layla's next odd experience at Charybdis Heights happens when she discovers her sister in her locker mirror. Nina was the victim of a cursed mirror, and a Nina doppleganger had taken her place, causing random acts of mischief and mayhem around the school. With the aid of the astral projection (then thought to be a ghost) of Tiffany Winters, a vampire slayer, as well as Chloe and Brooke, Layla works out a plan to get Nina back. Since they need bait to get the Nina-double to go back into the mirror and notice that the Nina-double is very interested in Kade, Layla persuades Kade to help them by inviting him to go up to her parents' beach house with her and mentioning her tiny bikini. The plan is successful, and Layla goes to make out with Kade, only to discover a body in the closet he picked out. It has a faint pulse and Layla decides to take a bite in order to not have the blood go to waste. However, it's enough to force Tiffany's astral form into her body (wearing a mask at the timE) and Layla's left absolutely baffled as to how a dead body got up and ran away.

As the school dance approaches, Layla informs Kade that they're going (even as he's covered in kiss marks from another girl) and tells him that the punishment for his flirtation will be determined later. Layla's rival, Melissa Hellrune, plots to break Layla and Kade up so that she can date Kade herself. She's aware that Layla will overlook Kade's infidelity, but notes that Kade catching Layla with another boy would crush Kade. To accomplish this, she has the Tiresias orb, a magical artifact that will switch a person's gender and physical sex. Unfortunately for Melissa, perverted doll Blair grabs the orb and runs off with it, quickly changing as many boys into girls as he can. Layla is infuriated when she discovers Kade flirting with yet another girl that same day (who's actually a magically switched Ace Wolfhart), smacks Kade and stomps off in a huff to revenge-kiss the next cute boy she found (who wound up being a magically switched Melissa Hellrune - only to have the spell wear off a second later).

The next day, Layla is bawling over the breakup, while her mother consoles her and urges her to cheer up because Nina is having a sleepover party that night with Brooke and Chloe. When the still-female Ace stops over to return the school uniform borrowed from Nina, s(he) uses the bathroom before going home and is startled by Blair. Layla comes running. At first she's enraged to see the girl who stole Kade from her, but she quickly switches from being angry to amused upon learning that the girl was actually Ace Wolfhart. Layla is also pleased to find out that the only reason Melissa Hellrune wound up going to the dance with Kade was because girl-Ace ran away at the first opportunity. She announces that the sleepover will be held in her room instead, and that Ace is invited to stay as well. Layla decides to start the slumber party off with makeovers. Layla and Brooke clash and argue a little, and later Layla pulls out some Kahlua. To everyone's surprise, Nina drinks the most, because there's chocolate in the alcohol. A bite from Layla sobers Chloe up, and Mrs. Delacroix walks in at the worst opportunity possible - Layla is holding a semi-conscious Chloe, Brooke is having a large swig from the bottle, and Nina is throwing up. Mrs. Delacroix gives Brooke a small bite to sober her up and reveals that her blood is cold. Layla's immediately interested in trying, but Brooke refuses. After Brooke tells a disturbing story about her snake-like instincts, Nina, Chloe and Ace vote that Brooke sleeps in Layla's room that night. Layla attempts to get in a bite while Brooke is sleeping, only to be caught. Brooke makes a deal with Layla: Layla may drink some of Brooke's blood in exchange for teaching her how to kiss. It doesn't take long at all for the two to fight, and for Brooke to reveal her snake form. As Brooke is shifting back to her normal form, she's nude, and Mrs. Delacroix walks in at a bad time again - this time misinterpreting the situation.

A few days later, Layla is shopping in the store Tiffany Winters works in. She doesn't recognize her as the masked girl whose supposedly dead body got up and ran away from her, although Tiffany recognizes Layla and plans on staking her. Tiffany is about to stake Layla while she's in the fitting room of the clothing store, when Tiffany notices that Layla is wearing limited edition underwear with the Valiant Crosses (a band) written on it. Tiffany quickly hides the stake and the two begin to bond over their love of the band. Layla invites Tiffany to join her at the concert the next night, since she and Kade won't be going together. Layla also encourages Tiffany to try on some new clothing to wear at the concert. When Tiffany's boss Becky reprimands Tiffany, Layla is quick to step in, pulling Becky into the fitting room to give her a bite. She also hypnotizes Becky into forgetting about the entire incident and giving Tiffany a raise. Tiffany contemplates staking Layla again, but doesn't want to miss the concert. Both vampire slayer and vampire have a great time, hugging at the end of the night before they go home. It's only then that Tiffany realizes that she forgot to stake Layla, and vows to stake her the next day.

At school, Nina is unhappy that Chloe is sitting with two other girls (Cessily and Laura) and makes sad eyes at Layla until she agrees to apologize to Chloe for biting her. Unfortunately, the addictive effects of succubus blood take hold, making Layla overheated and distracted by Chloe's veins. She's forced to turn away and leave before she can apologize. Cessily and Laura assume that Layla is attracted to Chloe and that this is their key to becoming more popular than Layla is. In reality, the addictive properties of succubus blood have made Layla blood-starved and in a bad state. Brooke volunteers her blood to help Layla get back to normal, and Layla's careful enough about biting her that it actually feels good. Laura captures what looks like Layla giving Brooke a hickey with the camera feature on her smartphone. Layla decides to honour their previous deal and is in the middle of teaching Brooke to kiss when Nina appears with a cookie (to up Brooke's blood sugar after donating her blood). Thinking that her sister and friend have a secret relationship, Nina runs off upset. Laura is quick to loan Nina her phone while Nina calls her mother to talk about Layla's relationship with Brooke - because Laura has secretly recorded the entire conversation with an app on her smartphone. Later that day, Layla and Brooke discover a small crowd of people who have assembled to show their support for their relationship that doesn't actually exist. They've even included a video, which later gets posted to youtube. They also reveal that they've all chipped in for a limo to take the two to a dance and demand a kiss. Brooke panicks and slaps Layla, then runs off. Nina and Chloe immediately offer to go to the dance with Layla in Brooke's place, and an entire group of girls (some of who Layla doesn't even know) also offer to take her so that they can show their support. At the dance, Layla decides the best way to clarify that she isn't actually a lesbian is to get back together with Kade. She hops into his arms, announces she's no longer a lesbian (much to Kade's confusion - he'd believed all of this came up because she was mad at him), and tells him to kiss her.

All is well until Nina finds a magical artifact that switches people's bodies and decides to switch herself with Layla a couple of weeks later. Layla is distressed to wake up in Nina's body, and goes to track down Nina at the mall. As she's searching, Nina's need to feed on chocolate gets to her, and she buys a lot of it despite hating chocolate herself. Eventually, she finds Nina in her body wearing a cutesy outfit with cat ears. Layla lectures her little sister about how bodies are not for borrowing, and is en route to take her home when she spots Ace (just freshly transformed back into a boy) and Kade (who has just been transformed into a girl courtesy of coming into contact with the residual magic on Ace's female form). That evening, Layla's father calls her into his study to talk to her and announces that he'd arranged a marriage between her and a vampire boy named Diodore Renoir when they were infants. The following day at school, Layla goes so far as to try to disguise Ace as Kade (since Kade is currently a girl) since Diodore is supposed to arrive. However, Diodore turns out to be a very attractive and charming boy and Layla's suddenly much more open to giving him a chance. Kade becomes jealous of Diodore, and sends a text message to Melissa Hellrune (now attending a different school) asking her out in the hope of making Layla jealous.

While out walking her dog Kujo, Layla encounters Kade kissing a reluctant Melissa Hellrune and remarks that even now that he's got a female body, he still sees girls behind her back. Faith, a psychic classmate at Melissa's new school, arrives on the scene and invites Layla to bring her dog over to meet Faith's dog Trumpy. Faith flirts with Layla, who decides this is a perfect opportunity to make a snack out of Faith. Being the most powerful student at a school that fights monsters, Faith telekinetically slams Layla against a wall and gets ready to stake her with a broken chair leg. Tiffany Winters crashes in through Faith's door a second later, just as Faith is using her psychic abilities to stir up the rage and bloodlust in Layla to make her go berserk. Rather than stake Layla, Tiffany saves the day by letting Layla drink enough of her blood to calm down. She also puts on her mask so that Layla won't recognize her, and Layla leaves Faith's home with Kujo, shaken from her experience. The following day, Tiffany calls Layla to cheer her up, and Layla's spent most of the day in bed, saying she doesn't feel very invincible at the moment.

A few days later, Chloe has developed a crush on Diodore, and her succubus powers are growing due to magical panties that stimulate succubi abilities - the "doom panties". When Blair goes running through the school wreaking havoc, Layla seeks to capture him so that she won't have to worry about being embarrassed in front of Dio (Diodore). As she's chasing him, she encounters a much more confident Chloe in the hallway, who boldly announces that she was thinking of having dinner with Layla's fiancee and that Layla would be the cook. When Layla refuses, Chloe tells her that she'll do it because Chloe's highly addictive blood is calling out to Layla. In the end, Layla accepts but only to get revenge. She hypnotizes Chloe into eating like a pig in front of Dio (complete with eating with her hands, stuffing her face, talking with her mouth full, and dumping chocolate fondue all over herself). Layla tells Dio he should leave and then leads Chloe upstairs to the shower to wash herself off. It's only then that Chloe remembers what Layla did, and as she's about to threaten Layla, Layla reveals that she also hypnotized Chloe into thinking that Blair the perverted doll was a scrub brush. Less than a week later, Chloe invites Layla to a party that's been organized at the school. Layla sees it as a challenge and attends with Dio. Chloe greets Layla with false warmth, then announces to the masses (while feeding on their positive energy) that she's going to perform a magic trick. Using Blair and the residual energy left in him, she transforms Kade back into a male, then announces that for her next trick, she'll devour his soul in front of everyone. Layla is absolutely furious. Baring her fangs and extending her claws, she tells Chloe to get her stinking claws off of her boyfriend. Much to Layla's surprise, Chloe tosses Kade into her arms without any fight, and reveals that the entire point was that she wanted Layla to mention having a boyfriend in front of Dio. Brooke, Ace, Nina and Chloe's mother try to step in to say that Chloe's gone out of control. Chloe loses her temper and tries to absorb their (plus Layla, Kade and Dio's) souls. Chloe's mother reveals that the power boost is due to the doom panties, and Layla shouts to Blair that Chloe is wearing the rarest panties in the world. Chloe passes out as soon as the panties are sealed away.

The following Monday, Kade is cuddling up to Layla, enamoured with the way she stood up to Chloe for his sake. Layla is embarrassed about her feelings, but they continue to walk with their arms around each other without Layla protesting. Nina runs up to her in tears, announcing that Chloe is transferring to another school. Layla hugs her little sister and offers to buy her some chocolate milk as a treat. That evening, Mrs. Delacroix tries to guilt trip Layla over choosing Kade over Dio. Layla concedes that she'll set Dio up with a nice girl. As luck would have it, she runs into Tiffany while taking her dog Kujo out for a walk and invites Tiffany to double-date with her. It's only as Layla's going to bed that she remembers that Tiffany is a human and thinks of how badly this could go. By date night, however, Layla's come up with a plan and gets Nina to pretend to be a perfume sample girl that accosts Tiffany en route to the restaurant they're meeting at. The "perfume" masks Tiffany's human scent. Dio compliments Layla on arranging the double date, and says it was most generous of her to find a girl to date Kade. At the restaurant, Layla is trying to tell Dio how wonderful Tiffany is. When she pauses to try to figure out what happened to the hostess leading them to their table, she spots Kade flirting with the girl and is extremely annoyed. She introduces Tiffany to Dio and Kade, who each kiss one of Tiffany's hands in introduction (much to Layla's irritation).

Point in Canon: The August 22nd 2012 page, where Layla is introducing Dio and Kade to Tiffany.
Conditional: Brief summary of previous RP history: N/A

Character Personality:

On the surface, Layla comes across as being stuck up and full of herself. She's quite concerned with her appearance, even going as far as to tan herself in the artificial sunlight on Charydbis Heights' school grounds that won't burn her to a crisp, because "pallor is for emo vampires". She behaves in a haughty and selfish manner. At one point, when teenage succubus Chloe Love is being pursued by boys who are going crazy due to an accident with her pheremones, Layla shows no interest in helping her, instead more concerned with washing the pink pheremones off of herself so that her face and hair won't be dyed pink. She informs the school gym teacher that she "doesn't do sweat" when told to do a 40m dash, and uses her vampiric abilities to try to get out of it quickly when presented with the alternative of 40 hours of detention. She doesn't want people to know that her sister's possesed doll Blair has any connection to her (this isn't entirely unreasonable, though, given that Blair is a pervert). She's reluctant to cave to any of her on and off again boyfriend Kade's whims, in spite of his efforts to please her. Layla is an attractive girl and she's all too aware of it. It's hard to understand how Layla ever became popular at Charydbis Heights with an attitude like hers.

When Layla's not putting on airs, she is a far more likeable person. She is outgoing and friendly. Upon discovering that a sales associate in a clothing store she shops at was a fan of band Valiant Cross she was quick to invite the girl to attend the concert with her, in spite of a) just meeting her that day, and b) the girl being human. The two have quite a bit of fun at the concert, with Layla even lifting Tiffany up on her shoulders so that Tiffany can flash her chest at the band. After being cheered up by news that her rival had only been asked out by her now ex-boyfriend Kade by accident, Layla is quite quick to invite her younger sister Nina and her friends to have their sleepover party in her room, and invites the gender-swapped werewolf Ace Wolfhart, saying that all girls were invited. She is quick to get the girls started on makeovers, and after that, drinking some alcohol she swiped from her parents' liquor cabinet. Though not a major rebel, Layla is willing to break a few rules in the name of fun, and others get caught up in the moment with her. Layla is also a very adaptable person, and much less judgmental than she seems on first glance. When a misunderstanding makes the school think that she's come out as a lesbian, and a group of girls ask her to the school dance in the name of being supportive, Layla goes along with it with grace even though she's not attracted to girls rather than making a scene, later correcting assumptions by getting back together with her boyfriend Kade.

Layla is a fiercely protective person when she does care for someone. When she gets the wrong idea and thinks that Ace (then a boy) was being inappropriate with her little sister Nina, Layla is quick to threaten him. Anyone who poses a risk to Nina's safety, who might corrupt her, or make her cry is almost guaranteed to incur Layla's wrath - unless it's Layla herself, slipping her sister a small swig of alcohol. Nina brings out the best in Layla. She'll ignore her more selfish inclinations in a heartbeat if Nina is any danger, and she's far more willing to forgive Nina than anyone else. A good example of this is when Nina borrows a magical artifact to make them switch bodies. Although Layla's usual inclination to being wronged is to exact revenge, she gives her sister a brief lecture and pulls her out of the shop. While reluctant to admit it, Layla does care for Kade a great deal. This comes through when Chloe Love is high on her own power and about to devour Kade's soul. Layla orders Chloe to get her stinking claws off of her boyfriend and looks about ready to rip Chloe's face off. Immediately after befriending Tiffany, Layla ensures that Tiff is not penalized for socializing on work time, and not only hypnotizes Tiffany's boss Becky into forgetting about Tiffany slacking off, but also into giving her a raise. In addition to Layla's protective instincts, there isn't a real desire to harm others - or at least Layla consciously restrains her more violent instincts. When biting people, she's gentle and has even learned to make the bites as pleasant as they can be. She also shows restraint in how much she takes, so that she can avoid killing. She's learned how to use her biting to sober drunk friends up.

Though not generally violent, Layla can be rather creative in how she gets revenge and/or solves problems. When threatening Ace Wolfhart for being inappropriate with her sister, rather than harm him, she dials the dogpound while the young and then runty werewolf is fully transformed. At one point, Chloe attempts to coerce Layla into preparing a romantic dinner for Chloe and Layla's arranged fiancee Diodore, exploiting the fact that succubus blood is highly addictive to vampires. Layla pretends to go along with it, but actually hypnotizes Chloe into making a spectacle of herself by eating with her hands and dumping dessert on herself. She also hypnotizes her into thinking that Blair the perverted doll is a scrub brush when Layla "kindly" guides her upstairs to wash off. Later, Layla's quick thinking and creativity helps to save herself, Diodore, Kade, Nina, Ace, Brooke and Chloe's mother from having their souls absorbed by Chloe. Upon being told that Chloe's boost in power has come from an enchanted pair of underwear that boosts succubus powers, she shouts to Blair that those are the rarest panties in the world. Chloe's "power boost" is removed in an instant.

Layla overestimates her own abilities on occasion. This nearly has fatal consequences when she comes up against powerful psychic Faith Abbott. She attempts to hypnotize her, only to have her own mind messed with in return. Faith stimulates her bloodlust and rage to make Layla go berserk, and it's only the timely arrival of Tiffany (actually a vampire slayer), who gives Layla some blood to calm her down, that winds up saving the day. Layla is left shaken from the experience, and rather than trying behaving violently, she leaves Faith's home quietly with her dog Kujo. She's upset enough by feelings of powerlessness that she huddles up in bed with a hoodie on. It's a difficult feeling for Layla to accept. In fact, anything that makes Layla feel anything less than strong is hard for her to deal with - which is partially why she gets so frustrated by her feelings for Kade.
Conditional: Personality development in previous game: N/A

Character Plans: Layla would likely get involved with the Sanguinarian Society. Given her age and her outgoing side, she'd probably befriend other teenagers relatively easily. I'd also like her to meet the Stoker household characters, because she'd probably be so weird to them and yet very clearly a vampire. In order to give Layla some limited opportunity to be outside during the daytime, I'm going to go with sunlight not being instantaneously fatal to her and something she can protect against by covering up and putting heaps of sunblock on. It's canon for her to be able to handle sunlight on the magically protected school grounds at Charybdis Heights and she has gone out during the day (staying mostly inside) without ill effect.

Appearance/PB: Layla has straight black hair that goes down to the middle of her back. She is nearly always seen wearing a skull hairpin that reflects her emotions. Her eyes are red and she is fair-skinned. Layla's build is slim, with some curves. She's not particularly athletic, and thus doesn't have much muscle tone. Her height is never stated in canon, but she appears to be an average height for a teenage female.

[Layla's been careful to wait until the disorientation has worn off before making a post on her NV. The Greeter has explained some of the basics, and while it's all a little hard to swallow, she's aware that she's not being lied to.

When she turns on her NV, the network gets to see a teenage girl with red eyes, dark hair, and an odd skull hairpin that's matching her facial expressions, if one is watching closely enough. Another detail the more observant denizens might pick up on is her long incisor teeth, but only if they look carefully. She's not showing them off.
]

Hello, Siren's Port. My name is Layla Delacroix. I'm not from around here and I've got a few questions for you. First things first: have any of you seen my little sister, Nina? She's got green eyes, purple and black hair, she's tiny, friendly, and she loves chocolate. She'll probably be totally freaking out, so if you find her, give her some chocolate and let her know that Layla's going to come and find her, all right? Also, if anyone's seen people named Tiffany Winters, Diodore Renoir, or Kade Whiteclaw, let me know.

[Even with just the limited information she's managed to learn so far, Layla really doesn't like the idea of her innocent little sister running around here unattended.]

Second: I need blood. I'm ah...severely anemic. I also get very bad sunburns, so it would be better if we met after dark. Help a girl out? I can't exactly go and get a job if I'm too out of it to work.

[No one will figure out that she's a vampire, right? Of course not.]

Third: Cute clothes. Anyone know where I can find some in this city? As nice as my dress is, wearing it every single day is all kinds of tacky.

[She makes a face. Whether it's the idea of wearing the same thing every day or her next question that she finds distasteful is anyone's guess.]

Oh. And my fourth and last question - is anyone hiring for later shifts? I'm kind of a night person.

Third Person Sample

Distasteful as she found it, Layla Delacroix was perusing want ads for jobs that were willing to hire Newcomers. She needed to pay her rent, and there was no way she was going to walk around wearing the same dress all the time. She flipped through the pages, frowning. Her skull shaped hairpin scowled with her. Working was unappealing enough, but these jobs were just awful. Particularly since she was limited to jobs that could be done at night. That already cut her options in half.

"Let's see...cleaner for the Afterglow XXX club...ugh, no thank you. " She could only imagine what sort of messes she'd have to tidy up in a place like that.. "Cleaner for SERO labs...must not ask too many questions...nope." If they had to put that in the want ad in the first place, it was probably the exact sort of thing that had earned SERO its more dubious reputation. Not to mention the fact that cleaning jobs held no interest for Layla in the first place. Those jobs were so menial and unfitting of someone like her.

"Telephone operator...for a phone sex company. What is with these stupid jobs?" Even waitressing would be better than something like that! Which was probably why there weren't any waitressing jobs being advertised for. "Oh, maybe this one. Customer service, must have a pleasant telephone manner...complaints line for personal pleasure products?! No way."

Layla sighed. She knew she needed to find a job, and that there was a bias against Newcomers. She also had no work experience. Reluctantly, she circled the customer service job as something to apply to later. Just in case she had no luck with anything better. If the job was over the phone, at least no one would see her rolling her eyes or otherwise making faces.

"Hmm. Overnight nanny needed to mind twin telekinetic and telepathic two year olds. How hard could it be?" She triple-circled that job, and went through the rest of the ads just in case. "Actors needed to be product spokesperson? Ooh, that looks promisi---no, it's for laxatives." Being known as a spokesperson for something like that sounded almost as bad as being a cleaner for SERO or AGI. "Persons with super-strength required for night-time shipments for SERO labs. Discretion is a must...I don't think so."

It was going to be a long and miserable job hunt.
